11th September 2020 - (Friday, Péntek)
A short visit after the team from Szolnok air base had departed from Pipis-hegy. Butterflies recorded: Small Heath, Sooty Copper (male), Common Blue (male), Chalkhill Blue (male), Reverdin's Blue (male) = 5 species. NOTE: A Grayling (Hipparchia semele - Barna szemeslepke) was photographed at the airfield, but is not included here. The SQ site appears to be dry again, including Rock Bath 1, after many days of sun, high temperatures, and no rain. The Purple Loosestrife is not very evident this year due to the drought. In fact, the main colour in The Bowl this year comes from the red stems and leaves of the Water-pepper (Polygonum hydropiper - Borsos keserűfű). Two invasive species have now taken a firm grip within The Bowl (Trifid Bur Marigold and Ragweed). These should be removed, or at least reduced, but it is too hot for such work at the present time.
