October 2018 - Part 2
16th October 2018 - (Tuesday, Kedd)
Not too much to see this afternoon. A few Eastern Pale Clouded Yellow butterflies, a Black Redstart, a few Jays, a Great Tit, a few Yellowhammer, and an elusive Green Woodpecker that was heard, but not seen.
18th October 2018 - (Thursday, Csütörtök)
Not too much to be seen this afternoon. Jay, Great Tit, and a Green Woodpecker, but no photos obtained. There were a few Eastern Pale Clouded Yellow searching for the last remaining flower heads, and this was the only butterfly species seen. The 'nutty lady' seems to have been satisfying her pyromaniac urges again - not only starting fires in a neighbour's plot, but also on the small bank outside the SQ. Nem normális ... as we say in Hungary !
22nd October 2018 - (Monday, Hétfő)
I was greeted on arrival by a sole Eastern Pale Clouded Yellow, but this was the only butterfly found. Apart from that, the main forms of life were the many grasshoppers that jumped to avoid my footsteps. I heard a Roe Deer scampering away but couldn't see it as it was on the other side of a hedge and embankment.
31st October 2018 - (Wednesday, Szerda)
During my walk, an adult Roe Deer, complete with antlers, jumped out in front of me, paused, then ran off a short distance and then stood looking at me. Despite doing everything I could, my camera lens refused to focus on the animal ! In the end, the deer ran off barking as it went ... or was it laughing ?? Needless to say, no photos at all ! Just across the road from the SQ I found the remains of someone's party, including unopened cans of tuna and meaty chunks, and even a cooking oil bottle, about 1/3 full of oil ! All cleared up, but ... SOME people ! As I started my clear-up Teréz arrived with Robika, and he helped me to locate some of the hidden rubbish.
