Although not a sunny day, it was quite bright. The breeze was not helpful, but most creatures were ... resulting in quite a full, photographic record of my visit. Escaping the camera were: the pair of Mallard that are still convinced that a site with little water is a good nesting place (!), a white butterfly (probably a Green-veined White), and a Ladybird species that I clumsily knocked off its twig as I moved in with the camera ! Birds heard were: a Nightingale and a Golden Oriole, as well as some loud songsters in thick undergrowth (Blackcaps, or Whitethroats?). My bird song skills are still sadly lacking. On the 'water front', the Coffee Pool is now separate from the reedbed area, and I'm hoping that some of these grey clouds will empty a large volume of water soon.

The weather conditions for today's visit were: sunny, cloudy, and windy. The latter made photography difficult, especially when insects landed on delicate plants. The changeable light conditions also kept me 'on my toes'. Birds heard were: Golden Oriole, Cuckoo, and the usual on-site Nightingale. Most of the invertebrates I encountered were photographed, but some of the shots are not too sharp. The water has all gone from the Coffee Pool, and I was able to walk right across The Bowl. Whilst doing so, I saw 2 Grass Snakes among the mass of Rush, but the vanished from sight before I was able to fire a shot.
