April 2022
6th April 2022 - (Wednesday, Szerda)
A mixture of sun and cloud, accompanied by a cool wind. A Green Lizard was enjoying the sunshine in a sheltered spot. I disturbed a Roe Deer that was grazing among the bushes adjacent to the houses. It climbed up the slope and ran along inside the fence until it found a suitable gap. I photographed 3 Bee-fly species, and I suspect that I missed a fourth. Birds present were: 2 Long-tailed Tit, a male Blackbird, and a few Great Tit. One Peacock butterfly was seen. Rock Bath 1 had been topped-up a little by the recent rain, but there is no other water body on-site.

One of the highlights of my visit has to be the calling of the first Green Tree Frog of the year! The call came from the bushy area near the 'houses slope', but, try as I might, I couldn't find the caller. Rock Bath 1 still has water, and I saw a few small splashes as I approached. Maybe these were Newts, but I had no confirmation sightings. Rock Bath 2 also had a little water, and The Bowl had water throughout most of the reedbed section. A few butterflies were seen: Grizzled Skipper, Peacock, Scarce Swallowtail, and a female Brimstone that appeared to be egg-laying on the St. Lucie Cherry tree (Sajmeggy). Paper Wasps were again nesting under the flap of the HQ light switch. Great Tits and Tree Sparrows were the only recorded bird species.

A fairly short afternoon visit on a sunny but breezy day.
