September 2018 - Part 3
24th September 2018 - (Monday, Hétfő)
A strange day. Suddenly, we lost the hot temperatures of last week, and this morning was very cold. Then, after lunch, the clouds cleared, the Sun broke through, and it was quite warm. However, the sunshine was tempered by a cold, gale-force wind. I spent most of my visit attempting to re-fence the area near to the houses in a bid to stop any more dumping of garden rubbish. To do this I cut a long length of wire that came from the redundant electricity poles. My attempt to extract a long section of chain-link fence from another area was not too successful, but I'll probably try again. For this sort of work, one needs several hours as there is always some difficulty. I photographed no butterflies, but Teréz did, and her photos will be displayed shortly.
25th September 2018 - (Tuesday, Kedd)
This afternoon I bought a pair of bolt-croppers and then freed a length of old chain-link fencing from a redundant fence line near the SQ. After dragging the fencing to the SQ perimeter I proceeded to secure it in place to prevent further dumping of rubbish. The securing process was harder than expected, mainly because I was dealing with such old, rusty metal. In the end, I was able to block the wheelbarrow entrance, although not as securely as I'd hoped. No time for species recording due to the prolonged working time.

27th September 2018 - (Thursday, Csütörtök)
5 Praying Mantis were seen today. Apart from that, it was a bird day, with the following species being seen: Green Woodpecker, Common Buzzard, Jay, Tree Sparrow, and Great Tit. Butterflies seen were: Common Blue (several, both sexes), Small Heath, Eastern Pale Clouded Yellow (several), Small White, and a Grayling (rather worn) = 5 species. 2 juvenile Green Lizards were enjoying the sun on the top rim.
30th September 2018 - (Sunday, Vasárnap)
A mixture of sun and cloud for my late afternoon visit. A cool breeze added to the mix. No butterflies were seen, but birds noted were: Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Black Redstart, and Great Tit. The Bowl is now very dry and there are hardly flower left on the plants.
