Donations to assist our work
At last, we seem to be getting close to securing protection for the Small Quarry. Once this happens, we intend commencing a range of activities to improve the habitats and maintain species diversity.
The site must be secured so that rubbish dumping is no longer a problem, and information signs must be designed and erected. We also wish to renovate, equip, and secure the site building so that it can act as a base for us to work from, and also provide a small education centre for visiting naturalists.
For most of this work, we will be applying for grants from various sources, but if anyone wished to donate some money to help this exciting project, please use the PayPal button below.
Although site protection will ease many problems, we still need to ensure that collected rainwater does not seep away. This means that we must make the base of the Bowl area watertight. This could be quite costly, as it would involve using plant machinery to prepare the site, and then finding a suitable medium with which to seal the base.
Plans for the work will be drawn up once the site achieves protected status. Once the site is safe, we can start the process of planning the practical work, in consultation with our partners.
Many thanks for exploring the Small Quarry web site,
Best wishes, Colin Penny.
