Mammals of the Small Quarry
Several mammal species use the Small Quarry for a variety of reasons: mainly for food and drink. Most species are difficult to photograph as they visit after dark, but here is our current list of species:
- Wild Boar – Sus scrofa – Vaddisznó
- Brown Hare – Lepus europaeus – Mezei nyúl
- Roe Deer – Capreolus capreolus - Őz
- Red Deer – Cervus elaphus – Gímszarvas
- Fox – Vulpes vulpes – Vörös róka
There is, however, one very unwelcome mammal species: the domestic cat, which is almost certainly responsible for killing Small Quarry snakes and lizards.
