4th June 2008
If the 2nd June was 'dragonfly day', today was 'copper day', as we recorded 4 species of copper butterfly at the small quarry. I managed to photograph 3 of them, and was about to press the shutter button on the 4th (a Lesser Fiery Copper in superb condition) when the male Large Copper I'd just photographed, 'leapt' onto the unsuspecting LFC and they both vanished into the base of the quarry. The poor photographer simply stood there stunned ! It's not every day that you get the chance to photograph 4 copper species.
