February 2021
1st February 2021 - (Monday, Hétfő)
A short visit on a cold, but sunny afternoon to check the water situation. The top irrigation channel had obviously been working recently, judging by the amount of road debris it contained. Soon, I will have a 'digging session' to reprofile the channel and clear the build up of said debris. There was a reasonable amount of water in The Bowl, but it was topped with ice. The same thing applied to Rock Baths 1 and 2. A few Great Tit were heard around the site, and a flock of about 15 Fieldfare landed in the trees, just outside the SQ.

A short visit by Teréz to check the water situation on this rainy day.
10th February 2021 - (Wednesday, Szerda)
A short afternoon visit to check the site as we'd had quite a lot of rain over the last two days. I was pleased to see that a good flow of water was going into the site, but the top irrigation channel was overflowing in places. This was mainly due to a mass of small tarmac debris from the airfield road being washed into the channel. So .. it was back to the car to extract the spade. Ten minutes later, a lot of the debris had been cleared and the channel breaches had been closed. When I left the site, a strong waterfall was in action. All three Rock Baths had water in them, and The Bowl was filling up nicely. As I walked near the reedbed, a Wren was moving from bush to bush.

Here are Teréz's images from her sunny, blue sky visit following yesterday's snowfall. The waterfall was still working, but the water was flowing through icy sculptures.
18th February 2021 - (Thursday, Csütörtök)
When I arrived at the SQ, Teréz was already there, using a hand tool to break ice at the side of the road. The ice build-up was diverting some of the torrent of water away from our top channel. After her work, all of the water coming down the hill on the Eastern side of the road was flowing into the site.
24th February 2021 - (Wednesday, Szerda)
A sunny afternoon, but with a cool wind. There was no more water flowing down the road, but we have a reasonably good 'lake' inside the site. I didn't see any amphibian activity, but there should be some soon. Birds observed were: Jay, a male Blackbird, and some Great Tit. A Black Woodpecker was calling in the distance.
