December 2020
8th December 2020 - (Tuesday, Kedd)
A short visit to check the site after visiting the airfield. Both areas had received quite a lot of rainfall, it seemed. The airfield had a surprising amount of 'standing water' on parts of its grassy surface, and there were pools of rainwater in the usual places at the Small Quarry. Rock Bath 1 had its usual level of water, and our Yellow Flag Iris plant provided the only sign of green, albeit rather faded green. RB2 also had some water, and the level at the 'rescue zone' was quite high. No wildlife was observed today. As I walked up the road towards the car, I found the latest form of Year 2020 litter: a discarded Covid face mask. Well, it just HAD to happen, didn't it? These should NEVER be thrown down in the countryside, or anywhere else, and the strings should be cut, anyway, as other creatures can become tangled up in them. I will return to clear-up this and the other litter soon.
