After the heavy rain of Monday and Tuesday, the quarry began to look like it had several weeks ago: with a full 'rock bath', and the reed bed area with around 30 cms of water. An hour-long visit at 1800 today rewarded me with a chorus of piping from around 10 Fire-bellied Toads, being 'supported' by an Edible Frog in the new lagoon, and a Green Tree Frog at each end of the site.
Everywhere I looked in the tall grass, there were blue butterflies. I think most were a little 'shell-shocked' after the rain, which had followed many days of unbroken sunshine. Among the blues, I found 2 Grizzled Skippers, and one I paid particular attention to, as I believe it may beOberthur's Grizzled Skipper Pyrgus armoricanus. I'll post the photos here so that the experts can cast their eyes over them !
