September 2019 - part 2
18th September 2019 - (Wednesday, Szerda )
Still hot and dry, but there is still water in Rock Bath 1 (60%) and the reedbed area also has quite a good quantity. No tadpoles were seen, mainly because the open water was shaded by the reeds, but I'm sure they're still in there! Butterflies recorded were: Brown Hairstreak (female), Sooty Copper (female), Common Blue (male), Wall Brown, Small White, Small Heath, and Brown Argus = 7 species. There were still some darter dragonflies present, along with some Lestes damselflies.

While I was still confined to quarters with my flu illness, Teréz paid another visit to the site. She recorded a Queen of Spain Fritillary, but also recorded something else that was not so welcome. A digger, presumably, had entered the 'red light track', clearing our barricade in the process and cleared a track through the green gates and into the military area. Furthermore, another track had been cleared all the way to the red and white roofed building, and from there, back to the airfield road. We suspect that there may be a military connection to this as, next week, there will be a week-long exercise featuring our friends from Szolnok air base with their range of helicopters. Only time will tell whether our theory is correct. This would certainly be a better alternative than someone else acquiring the site for re-development.
